Posner and Schmidt have shown that when people share the values of their organisation, they feel:

• More personally successful
• More committed and loyal to the organisation
• Less personal and job stress
• They are prepared to work harder and longer.

However for this to happen the values must be clear to all, held consistently by each person, and people must believe in the values strongly:

• Clarity
• Consensus
• Intensity.
